It's me - second pic down on the home page - http://www.ginstreetband.co.uk
PS - listen to the tracks on the 'music' tab we have recently uploaded.
PPS - Dave, are we still OK for 19 May it's just that you haven't advertised anything on here and there is supposed to be beer involved.......
As far as we are concerned it's still on, haven't mentioned it much on here as I don't actually advertise as I don't want to be jumped on
Thanks for the mention though, now you're asking, I'm allowed to mention it
The Beer Festival at The Five Bells, in Hessett, Suffolk, is planned for 19th May 2012 and hopes to feature Gin Street, and we've already forked out for a hog roast machine and loads of barbecue burgers and bangers. Good stuff, mind, not yer Makro stuff
Now for the bomb shell, and please call as soon as you can and have a chat with Louise, as we're just a little bit miffed with the organisers. The whole thing is supposed to be part of the local Millennium charity, and not directly connected with us, as our tie to the brewery would double the cost. So they're supposed to buy and sell the beer, to raise money for their charity. Guess what, they've realised we haven't been telling them porkies about increased costs and reduced support, and after advertising the event have now pulled the plug on funding it.
We've been plugging this on FB and through various contacts, and now have close associations with the army air corps at Wattisham, and people are travelling miles to get to this event. Yet the local gossip that had us down as closing within six months, has pulled the financial plug on the beer. Jeez, give me strength
We're now trying to run this business as well as boost an event the locals (yet again) don't think can work. Our choices are limited this late in the day, we either try to raise £1400 from people who want to make a profit from the beer sales (no brainer if we could afford it, they made a profit out of locals only and nothing special planned last year) or try to raise it from businesses and people to support the Help For Heroes charity. With loads coming from Wattisham, that would make a killing
So basically, it wasn't, and can't be our event as such. Our tie would double the cost. But the locals who can see the potential are willing to run it for free, either to raise charity money or profit others.
Some can see the potential, the village elders, however, always know best
Oh, these are the people who want the pub open for that one pint they have, on Christmas day
As for other business, as expected, even more found us this evening, love what we do and will be back with even more people who want a break from microwave pub stuff. Didn't think they would be travelling all the way from Mildenhall just yet though
Anyway, back to work, decisions decisions. Already got four people who want to buy a barrel at cost and take all the profit
Last note to those on FB, please don't take everything I post there as serious, another local pub is watching us very closely on there as they don't understand why loads from Stowmarket and the area, come here and not to them. They poached someone from here in the hope that we had taught him enough about what we do to allow them to do the same. We hadn't
They're hoping we go bust so they can walk in and take over, they've had three or four pubs pulled out from under them in the last six months because they tried this tactic. Every one of those is now either a house, or up for sale with planning permission to convert on the way. Some people
Sorry for the long post, I don't do these normally
