Download adaware (search on google for it), basic version is free, and very good at removing all sorts of adware. Also recommend google toolbar to stop popups.

get Spybot - much better than adware, and unlike adware is completely free. Also, it is made in Germany so you are not supporting evil america even if you make a donation!!!

There is absolutely no adware or spyware coming from this site, or it would be caught by one of the several layers I have in place., Depends what you mean by adware really, you mean the advertising popups or the cookie??? That's not adware

Looking at a purely business persepective - do you really think IPC would want to jeapordise it's brand and reputation by downloading adware to us all, as we'd then boycott it's magazines.

The site I linked to earlier is Lavasoft Adaware, how I got to the USA site is one of those surprises that this b****y machine is always springing.

Here's a new one for forumites

<A target="_blank" HREF=https://www.prevx.com/homeoffice/prevxhome/prevxhome.htm>https://www.prevx.com/homeoffice/prevxhome/prevxhome.htm</A>

New product which I have running alongside a NAT router, av, zonealarm, spybot and adaware.

Difference is that Prevx claims to be a bit more proactive than the last two. Had it on for a week or so and it hasn't popped up to tell me it's doing anything yet..

Me - paranoid? Well, maybe a bit.

<hr width=100% size=1>my opinion is complete rubbish, probably.

Pop-ups not adware? - I think it depends on your perspective! Irritating to say the least, and capable of carrying a malicious payload, so ban 'em I say.

I was using Spybot and ad-aware to stop pop ups and still having one or two problems.
Then a friend suggested Bulletproof. (Not free unless you have a very generous friend)
I was totally amazed at the amount of spyware I found the first time I ran the program.
Absolutely awesome software and well worth seeking out !

Always guaranteed to surface at regular intervals!

To provide my usual propaganda on this subject depending on what software you use ybw.com might throw you some alerts because we use cookies and pop-ups. Some of the pop-ups are uin fact editorial ones (pictures and weather charts in windows for example) and the majority of the others are subscription offers.

We don't host malicious code. We do host in an extremely secure environment. We do cover our activities extremely thoroughly in terms and conditions and privacy policies. We do live in an extremely tall building with a real address that you can find in many places on this site.

In short by all means protect your computer, very good idea, but please do not worry about malpractice here, it is not in our interests to abuse your visit to any of our sites.
