Hiya all, i am looking at buying a 1992 princess 480 / 500 with TAMD 380's
the boat is called "in your dreams" and is located in wales
can anyone tell me if this is a good combination and is there any worries with the 71B engines.
also does anyone know anything about the boat please.
many thanks

steve

No worries about the 71bs but by todays standards it will be a snail, I have the original boat report for this boat the 48 it topped 30knots empty.

That should be a 48 not a 480. The 48 was later hull extended and changed a bit to become a 500. The 500 apart selling better is also a better sea boat. Someone told me that the same hull of the 500 was later used for the Princess 53 and 56.

The 480 is a bathing platform extended version of the 470, and later models also had an integrated stair case and a 2 part patio door, instead of the usual ladder, and 4 part door.
She will be definitly slow with those engines.

Agree. I had a 470 with Cat 435hp engines in the UK and she just about did 30kts and cruised at 22-25kts with a clean bum. I suspect that a 480 with 71B's will max out at about 26-27kts, maybe less as she's 18 yrs old. I liked my 470 although she was prone to throwing a bit of spray around. The 480 addressed the major prob with the 470 and that was the ladder access to the f/b

another bit of advise on costs please

would anyone know how much it would be to install a bow thruster on a princess 500...she has a/c fitted under the main cabin bed... dont know if that would limit space for it?
also whats the going cost to make a cover for the the back in including frame work?
many thanks again
steve
