Advise on operating my genny please

Hi All

Can anyone explain to me how to operate my genny on my new to me boat, I have attached a picture of the control panel, The 4 buttons on the left read from top left in a clockwise direction PUMP, AUX,SALOON. CABIN then the next button to the right is the start button then on the far right is the dial to change from shore power to genny

My question is once I have started the genny do I need to have the pump turned on if I am not turning either of the aircon / heating units on and just want it for 240 power when at sea, is the pump button just for the aircon units or something else

Also what is the AUX button for what does it do

Shawn, clearly I don't know your boat, but the bank of 4 switches on the left are all related to the aircon. Therefore the pump switch is the ac pump, and not part of running the Gennie.

Paul is correct.

The 4 switches to the far left are for the AC system. So pump on, then cabins or saloon or both. I suspect (but dont know) the AUX is just a spare for a third zone which you dont have.

The genny side of things is very simple. Start it up and once running flick the rotary switch to Gen. If the red light comes on it means your 240v system is being supplied by the generator.

so to confirm then all I need to do is turn the genny on with the start button then switch to genny mode and that's it I don't need to operate any of the 4 switches on the left unless I want the aircon on is that right

Not convinced - the changeover switch and RCD are both marked aircon. Presumably that means if you're not using aircon then you needn't touch anything. The rest of the 240v system must have another panel somewhere to run the boat off the gennie.

no afraid not this is the only switch to turn the genny on /off except the one on the side of the genny itself in the engine bay

No need to complicate things Ross, Shawn has 2 separate switching systems, 1 for the gennie, the other for the AC.

Yep, ok... Camera flash has obsured the 'c' of the ac legend above the changeover switch - thought the whole panel was a dedicated aircon panel
