advice require for taking 7 month old grandchild on boat

Our daughter will be bringing our 7 month old grandchild to the UK at the end of the month and would like us to take her out for a 2 day mini cruise around the solent on the boat. Prestige 32 flybridge. any advice on what precautions to take? or what to look out for and which is the most baby friendly marina?

At that age they tend to sleep most of the time, so finding somewhere to wedge the carrycot in is a good idea. Possibly take the car seat as well if you can find a way of holding it down firmly. Don't think marinas are bothered about small children especially.

Main thing is to keep mum happy, so probably no go if weather not good!

I think one of Mrs FP's first questions to the midwife was "When can we take the baby on a boat"...

In the end, a 3 month old in a carry cot, wedged in somewhere safe = they go to sleep within minutes of the engines settling down to a cruise.

The only consideration with marinas is that you don't want to end up rafted out!

Had many great times on my old prestige 36 when both my girls we're babies. A baby bouncer is a much better than a car seat, and for sleeping you can make a nest somewhere. At that age it's quite easy it's now that's harder being a bit older touching everything and 'when are we there yet '!!

Life jacket and don't do it it is rough ( not that they will mind)

Out little boy went Southampton La Rochelle at 10 weeks with no issues.

Other than making sure they have what they need as you do at home don't stress.

Our son was on our boat from the age of 6 weeks. For the first year or so we would put him into a cot wedged on the saloon floor. He would fall asleep as soon as the engines were started. After about a year I got a car child seat and strapped it to the lower helm where he would happily sit whilst we were on passage as he enjoyed looking out of the windows. He stayed there until he could reach the throttle levers with his feet and found that he could make daddy angry by kicking them into gear:livid:

Could this be a tiny Tasmanian visitor? As others have said, they will stay fine in relocated car seats, we used a small seat that hooked onto the edge of the dinette table, especially when berthing and cruising.
First trip out for the weekend for ours was when the babe was three weeks old, of course it depends on when they were born and how this coincides with the boating season....

Our little girl did that. She used to sit next to me and every now and then pushed one throttle forward which usually came as a total surprise !

Yes, but maybe not so small 97th percentile for height! Maybe he will play for the Tigers. He arrived very late so we only had time to get as far as Strahan and Stanley in our tour so hope to get to Launceston next time we are there. Dad has German passport, Mum British, baby Australian. I hope they will all be allowed back in

Just remember babies are very antisocial in public places like marinas especially for modern parents who can't hear the constant screaming!
