Advice requested

Finally narrowed choice of new boat to a Sessa Dorado 22 with a Mercury 115 outboard or a Quicksilver 640 Weekend with 1.7 Cummins Engine and Alpha 1 Sterndrive. Have heard a few horror stories about modern diesel inboards as opposed to outboards and wondered if anybody could give some advice ?
