Advice please: Prop cleaning

Hi all,

I apologize if this question has come up recently.

A pal of mine has a Princess 45 and is looking to put away the trusty angle grinder and find a new solution to prop cleaning.

Do any of you have any tricks that have worked well?

Any help is appreciated.

Yes, B&Q brick cleaner - works a treat. Just about to do ours but don't do it near the water!

We are using it on our old bronze ones so can't see why not.

Green Scotchbrite pads work great. We attached a pad to a velco pad for a drill - works a treat.

Starbright do a product I think it's called boat bottom cleaner, worked a treat for me.

Yes, that's what I use as well, on a SS prop, and it works fine. Main active constituent is Hcl, so far as I can tell, so speedier and more dramatic results might be acheived by getting a bottle of the stuff and boshing it on (but do wear suitable protection /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif)

.... but give the prop a gentle polish with some very fine sandpaper after you've boshed it, or you'll find that your stainless steel prop isn't quite as stainless as it was.....
