Advice on window material

We are replacing the saloon windows (9 of them and all around 90x60 cm). Someone recommended a material called Makrolon, made by Bayer. Does anyone have any experience of this? Any advice/thoughts on plexiglass? Toughened glass is sadly not possible as openings are not 100% level across. <font color="purple"> </font>

I use this a lot for vision panels in machine guards that we manufacture, its a great material and is totally shatterproof
and is easy to machine, what thickness do you require, ?

both acrylic (plexiglas) and polycarbonate (makrolo) can be used for window replacement

Acrylic is a harder material so will be more resistant to scratching.
Polycarbonate will scratch, but is much more resistant to heavy impact (they make bullet proof windows from it and the police shields are also polycarbonate.)

Both are susceptible to UV damage

Both can be obtained with a sun shade colour added (e.g. darkened window)

Both are normally available from the same supplier

Personally have toughened glass in saloon windows and polycarbonate on wheelhouse.

The other people who have responded are correct. As my windows will have to be replaced soon I was thinking of using a perspex polycarbonate sandwich. Screwfix sell both seperately. I was thinking that if perspex was on the outside it would have the scratch resistance and the polycarbonate on the inside would have the strength. Any comments welcome

How do you plan to stop moisture between the layers IMHO not a good plan.

I do believe somebody does that stuff, prelaminated, but for the life of me I cant remember who. I can vouch for the bullet proofness of makrolon, thick stuff anyway!
