advice on putting a water supply into a wee boat & hurricane lanterns

Buy two jerry cans the same size. Stick the pipe from the pump tap into one filled with water, and the pipe from the sink into the other which is empty. When you refill the one for the tap, empty the other. Keep it simple...

A jerry can or similar sized water carrier weights a lot..... better several small ones that you can carry easily in a dinghy or from distant water source.I made the same error.

Finally got a photobucket acct sorted as suggested. Here is the pic of the old lamp, is it even worth bothering trying to clean it up? Or are they 10 a penny and new ones can be had so cheap its not worth the effort?

I can't remember what my anchor light hurricane lamp cost. Four quid, perhaps. At that sort of price, I expect to get three or four years out of them and throw away. Yours still looks fine to me.

Not worth bothering with. There is one in near pristine condition slung in a cobwebbed, rat infested corner of my garage.

............. ugh all those rats

After going through 2 flexible water tanks in my jag 24, i ripped it all out and just use tesco 5l water bottles, refilled at tap. 3 slot in a gap alongside my origo 2 burner. Easy to fill kettle or bowl in sink, and that's all i need it for really. I keep 5 similar bottles in the space the tank left just for emergencies, but never need them.

ah, is that what it can be used for? an anchor light? thats a great idea, since its dark nno one can see how scabby it is :)

Esp as it blows out in more than the gentlest of breezes and does not hold enough paraffin to stay alight all night if you turn the wick up a bit so that it does not blow out so easily or to be visible further away than a couple of boat lengths.

The larger version, with a bigger fuel tank, is slightly better. Geo Taylor in his days as assistant editor of PBO showed how to solder a tin can on the bottom to make an even bigger fuel tank.
