advice on paint removal

I want to remove a painted on boatname and don't know what to use to shift it. The hull is awlgripped and I obviously don't want to attack that in any way, but I don't know the type of paint used for the name (other than its black ).

what would the panel recommend trying first, second, third? i know white spirit doesn't work.

Paint removal

There is a strong chance you will damage the Awlgrip paint as if i am right is a one pack paint.ie oil based as is likely your paint for the name.
Try acetone first. Then caustic soda but be very careful as it dissolves almost anything including skin and horse hair brushes but not so much A/F paint. And lastly try wet and dry sandpaper used wet.
