Advice on moving boat

Well I reckon my trailer would need to go to 45 degrees to put the CofG outside the tyre contact patch. Lay a piece of paper across the pic on the screen. I bet your boat is lower on the trailer. Tie it down well and load some concrete blocks on the uphill side of the trailer and I reckon you're safe as houses.

(No responsibility will be accpeted for being daft enough to follow my advice)
However, I'd not worry doing it.

/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gifstraight over rough land ??? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif you sure ?? Rangie is hooked up and ready but I've never towed anything that high before

Point about a boat is that it's just a shell containing air, and the weight is concentrated in the keel. Or, in your case, keels. But to be doubly sure, remove anything easily removable from upstairs (like anchors & chain, dinghies, mast and boom, gas bottles, etc, before towing across your slope. You can always put them back once you're on flatter ground.

Thanks Ken , mast is off and no gas bottles or batteries on board , main weight I suppose is the sails that are stored inside ,, no idea how heavy they are

It was moved into position on a much better and wider ( borrowed from a good freind ) trailer , lifted by crane and dropped onto my own , narrower trailer . Hoping to move this afternoon so if I come back crying all will know it didn't work . Thanks to all for your advice

Re: Is it tears before bed time?

I've been trying to resist the temptation to respond , but no , she hasn't rolled , forwards or sideways yet . Spent too long on pig mucking out duties that when I got back to her and increased the straps , tightened down even more and had a go at trying to make her slip which she didn't , I couldn't get the jockey wheel up /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif so had to undo the bolts . By this time it was too dark to see safely , or take pics , so it's postponed till tomorrow /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Re: Is it tears before bed time?

No worries thanks , there's still just enough slack to allow for a tiny bit of movement so hopefully she'll be alright

Re: Is it tears before bed time?

It would be a shame to see her get all that way and fail at the last hurdle!

Nice picture though..

Re: Is it tears before bed time?

Hi Scott , you should have seen the fun we had moving her from the pick up trailer to the launch trailer , the width is just that little bit different so we ended up having to make up a bit of an extension while the crane was holding her up in the air , scary or what . Managed it in the end though and hoping to move her later today so I'll have some of my own pics to show /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif fingers crossed /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
