Wago snap connectors? If you've got room to loose them and if inside and dry. Snap them and treat with ACF50 to keep any damp out?
Wago connectors do not meet UL or ABYC pull-out strength requirements with small wire, so I'm not a huge fan. With small wires they can fool you. Crimps or choc blocks with pressure plates (some have disparaged choc blocks, but there are BIG differences in quality--use the ones with pressure plates and they are very good for small, delicate wire).
I did a bunch of test fo a mag a few years back. The most reliable and strongest method was to...
* Slide a crimp butt connector over the smaller wire, up past the joint.
* Work the smaller wire into the larger wire. Twist a little if you like.
* Slide the crimp back into position over the larger wire/small wire combo. Since the crimps fit 14/16 and you are using 16 AWG, it will fit perfectly.
* Crimp. Crimp the small side too for strain relief, if you like, but it won't be tight. Doesn't need to be.
* Heat shrink for strain relief.
Works for really tiny wires.
