And incidently - having one for years - gives me that insight that it may not be the answer to the original question ! A simple meter to test for continuity may be though ... OR as suggested by me and others .... connect another antennae to the vhf and see what happens then ...

Well to be accurate he seems to hit quite near but not actually on the keyboard. It's not the incoherent animosity that one shies away from but his assumption that proof reading before posting is not quite the thing.
