Advice for a "Beginner" ..... ??

My first boat was a Searay 230, that was a great boat but the 5.0 Mercrusier was a complete pig to start, it was flip a coin and hope when cold and left for more than a day.
I was seriously considering re engining her but bought a Sealine S28 instead.

I found the trick was keeping the flame arrestor spotlessly clean. Any bit of soot and it seemed to make the boat difficult to start.

Having diesels now, I really miss the big V8 (not the cost of fuel though). I loved the noise and the smell of it.

Last week there was a parade of classic Rivas , you would have loved the rumble and the smell of petrol. Quite impressive

Confession time ............... I am on the dark side, having loitered for many years in the yachting/sailing section.

I have a friend who is looking at a small vessel here but is new to boating etc..

He is a sensible guy and has already taken the relevant RYA courses for handling, safety etc.

If you were in the market for a boat like this, what sort of things would you be looking for ?

Any comments, help, pointers etc most welcome. Many thanks .......

Tell your friend to look at this, and if it is as good as the pictures indicate, tell him to buy it. No quibbling, no silly offers, just buy it.

Just be a little careful, driven nan miles, sounds like something you'd get from a script copying someone else's ad and reposting as part of a scam.
NaN means not a number and could be the result of a script set up for cars not finding the milage.

It's an auto derived part of the ads on Facebook. If you look at all boat ads, it has this.
I did wonder the same thing and looked into it.

But yeah good advice, approach any large online potential purchase with usual precaution ?

Looks like a good deal but that 3.0 will struggle with that boat. I had the same 3.0lx in 17ft bowrider and with some bodies on board it struggled to plane at times. Just my 2c.
