9M waves, really? I think a lot of people don't know what a 4M wave is let alone a 9M one and I think they really wouldn't like to find out.
I haven't watched the video yet, but the waves in the cover photo look more like 9 inches. I've seen worse sea states in a park pond.

edit: skimmed the video. Not much evidence of 9M waves in there either. But he sounds American so perhaps Napoleon units confuse him.

Only skimmed it but did catch the bit about looking up and seeing a wave taller than the mast. Perhaps the strap line should be changed to "forgettable"?

The way he tells it sounds like higher waves and he comes off as inexperienced but straight. The idea of really big ones coming from astern and having to look UP for the crest might lead to a bit of hyperbol. But a lot depends on the wavelength.. We got caught by Beachy Head by a shortening sea. Bit dozey after a long night and we left the helm to my younger brother while cooking breakfast.
Well, we stuffed the bow into the back of the preceding wave, green water outside the cabin lights and I, and the breakfast, were on the way to the fore cabin.. Luckily we didn't broach., just fell back and carried on. Interesting moment... Cerca '64

Elsewhere, I was 'skipper' and nav, but the owner wanted to visit a restaurant which she knew was 'there'. I could not ID any lights that agreed but she was 60+ and I, 21. A bit later I realised that the stars (it was pitch black) were dissapearing at a high angle, as in we were closing a cliff.... I put the helm down and we gave it a miss. Relations were less good with her after that, but I had been engaged as skipper so bashed on..and got there. I at first assumed she knew what she was talking about, but realised not..

Realised my park pond comment seems nastier than I meant. I hasten to add that he may well have been in bigger seas than I'd be comfortable in. I know the feeling of thinking the waves were really big, then realising after that they weren't so bad really, then onto the next step of thinking no THESE waves are big... surely this is a common learner's experience? but there's no YouTube revenue in talking about the bit where you realise it and learn and move on, or decide where (for now) your limits are.

And he did apparently do a lot in a very small boat, so more power to him if so.
