Advansea AIS mode B / aisPro configuration issue

Hi. just fitted one of these to someone's boat only to have trouble connecting the configuration software to the unit to program the mmsi number etc.

Windows 7 32 bit running a USB - serial converter. Works fine to read the data stream and the unit intgrates and works with the ships c series display but no luck with connectign to config.

Anyone got any tips before I unmount the unit and send it back to be tested?

( 2 different usb / serial converters tried -same result . Plastimo ( owners of advansea ) no help so far - supplier suggests sending it back but will charge over and above shipping if no fault found! )

perhaps you can try sending it a request and see if you get a response, as from what you are saying perhaps your tx to the unit isn't right?

edit: ps. configured one fine from a xp vm running on a mac

We had the same problem and it took a while to find a driver that worked. In the end we download PL-2303- USB to Serial Driver from Prolific.com which worked. Good luck!
