Admiralty Folios -updates?

I dont think they are up dated as a folio . You have to go through chart updates the same as individual charts . Pain I know but there you go .

BTW how is boating world ?

If your question is how to find out when the next new edition of the Leisure Folios will be issued then you need to check the Weekly Editions of Admiralty Notices to Mariners. You can find these on the Marine, rather than Leisure, section of the UKHO website.

Each Weekly Edition lists the new editions of charts to be published about a month ahead. Unfortunately, you really need to look at each week's notices to spot when the chart or folio that you are interested in will be re-issued.

http://www.admiraltyleisure.co.uk/sc_folios.asp gives a bit of warning. It currently says folio 5605 will have a new edition on July 3 for example.

Updates to existing folio sets are at http://www.admiraltyleisure.co.uk/ALD_FOLIO_NM.asp

HOWEVER note this "You will find all relevant Notices to Mariners (NMs) released since the publication date of the chart's New Edition. " I take this to mean that you can't guarantee to keep a leisure folio correctly updated once a new edition has come out whereas you can keep traditional single charts going for ever can't you?
Stealth tax?

No. When a new edition appears it may (and usually will) have corrections which have not appeared in NtMs. Occasionally these can be quite major items, like the introduction of new TSSs.

Neither folios nor single charts can be fully corrected through an edition change.

It is probably best to phone them. Before purchasing SC5602 Falmouth to Teignmouth a few months ago I phoned first to be informed that the new edition 9 is due at the end of March so worth waiting. I did not notice this info on their site.
