I have just purchased the admirality Chart Plotter but i cannot seem to get it to communicate with the GPS. The GPS (GPSMap 60 CSx) is communicating with the Computer. (It Communicated briefly at one point)

Any comments and help appreciated

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think that the USB cable supplied with the Garmin unit is suitable for linking to chartplotter software.
The cable will work with the Garmin Mapsource software.
I bought one of these from GPSBITZ which allows me to link my Garmin GPS Map60CS to my PC via a serial port...........however, I also had to buy one of these to link to my laptop which doesn't have a serial port.
There might be other ways of doing it, but that certainly allowed me to connect up to the SeaPro light chartplotter.
I have no links with GPSBITZ, just a happy customer. Give them a ring for advice.

you can buy a cheap plug and play GPS with USB on the internet,i bought one for my chartplotter earlier this year works a treat
load the chartplotter, plug in the GPS and click connect /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have a GPSMAP76 but it only seems to work with the Garmin Mapsource software. I also have a cheap GPS Mouse I use with Tsunamis99 or Mapsource & Bluecharts to turn my PC into a chartplotter.

Keep an eye on e-bay for cheap versions of the s/w. There's always a risk that it's dodgy tho'; you need to be a little cautious.
