Adjusting keel whilst sailing

I've tried it on displacement keel boats with no noticeable effect.

It's interesting sailing when you forget to to put it down again though.

Of course, there was the Sun Odyssey 37 that decided to leave all of his Keel in The Scillies. As I recall any increase in boatspeed was outweighed by the reduction in handling

I sail a Crabber 26, with a chunky galvanised steel centre plate and 4 Tonne displacement and I find the boat sails much better downwind with the plate up. So if you’ve got a lifting keel then worth experimenting.
