I have a worktop hatch in the galley that has delaminated badly. I have managed to remove the old formica laminate and want to fix it to a new piece of marine ply. The old 25 year old adhesive was extremely durable and of a pinkish colour. Can anyone recommend a good adhesive to replace the formica? I haven't found contact adhesives to be especially good in a regularly wet environment.

Had a similar problem. First attemp with recommended adhesive failed. I then use epoxy resin, (fiberglass without the glass matt) put a flat board on top and compressed with clamps to squeeze all the air out. It worked and has been in place for 12 years.

I used a Resorcinol glue such as Cascophen many years ago and it's still stuck, I don't know if it is the same glue but it's the same dark red colour as the glue in the marine ply I used.

I just used an off the shelf contact adhesive designed for veneers etc. Works well. Epoxy would work too. But then you are never going to get it off again. This may be a good thing or a bad thing.
