Adding roller furling, should I increase forestay diameter?

Hi All,

My 26ft yacht (Dufour 1800) originally had a hanked on headsail on a 5mm dia forestay.
I'm now adding a roller furler (quite a heavy duty affair) and will be replacing the standing rigging all round. The rest of the stays are all 4mm dia, I was wondering about increasing the diameter to 6mm on the forestay only to allow for the extra weight of the furling gear? (7mm terminals won't fit the mast fitting, so 6mm is the largest I could go for).

It's a 7/8ths fractional rig.

Any comments would be appreciated!

No reason to change the diameter of the forestay. Weight of foil is irrelevant. The stay is there to support the mast and 5mm is adequate, otherwise the designer would have specified larger.
