Adding another fairlead to the toerail

Hi
Needing to add another fairlead to the toerail to enable better picking up of mooring lines.
Has anyone done this?
This ones looks quite good roller-fairlead-for-toerail but it looks as though I need to cut out all of the existing toerail

any help appreciated
If you have any pictures of what you have already, and maybe mention the boat's brand, it's possible that someone will recognise it and point you at the manufacturer. Normally (he says, tempting fate) you just need to cut out the upper part of the rail.

Agree with Rappey - I've fitted the YS 9185 toe rail cleat on my Moody 33 - easy to fit and if you're lucky you won't have to drill new holes as I had to as my toerail slots were wider than the cleat. Not cheap so search around for the best price. I've found Seamark Nunn competitive.

Hi
She is a Dufour 36 Classic
The need for a new fairlead is that the existing ones at the bow are are too small and also too close to the furler to enable pickup bouys on short strops to be pulled through between the pulpit upright and the furler. (in blue).

Bit in red is where I would like to put the new fairlead.
Thanks

I don't know the toerail brand (someone else will..) but I think one of these would work. You need to cut away the circular cross section at the top to the shorter dimension, then down further for the rest to fit through with the two end lumps snug up against the remaining top edge. More obvious if you look at the rebated cross section on the drawing here.

I wouldn't put my mooring strop through a fairlead. Mine comes over the bow roller with suitable protection. I note you have your anchor on a roller. I have a double bow roller but if I were you would remove the anchor and use the roller for my mooring stop.

Ignore the above if you have a split strop design to go through port and starboard fairleads.

I wanted to shift the fairlead back to much the same position so as to give room for the channel of a Lewmar extended roller and used an available block of Delrin to raise the alloy type fairlead just sufficiently above the vertical leg of the alloy rail so as to avoid cutting this away .May suit your situation .
