Adding an inverter - or generator?

And whats wrong with a tent, camping stove and sleeping bags on the back of the swim platform??:)
You grow out of it .........agree nothing wrong nobody’s saying there is with roughing it .

A family of 4 with 2 pre teen kids and their dog is always roughing it on a 34 foot boat. That's half the adventure. What I was driving at is we do not do without.

We BBQ the old fashion way. That's Roy in the background. You can almost hear his genny taking strain running the polisher, three fridges and a hairdryer in tandem

that just reminds me the the Genny is that quiet , I have had to fit a unit to switch it off by text, and his gas stove is to back up is barbecue, as it always fails. Electric barby the way forward ,

Also when he puts his Chakalka and Pap on the barbie it stinks , hence the deserted beach.

Your genny makes such a racket underwater it makes my hull reverberate. Sounds like a sewer outlet when the waves rush in. However I shall take you up on your offer to show me how splendid your leccy barbie is and how cold your fridges are (y)

:p And we never stay on our berth. We board, we leave and dont come back till it's time to come home a couple days later. Getting a genny for the odd night that's going to happen I'm guessing a handful of days a year is going to require deep pockets after just buying the boat if you are perfectly normal and consumed the budget then some.
I'll let you in on a dirty little secret. Admiral sneaks a small portable single ring butane stove onboard powered by a 500ml sized disposable butane cannister. That will last many days of kettle boiling and goes in the cupboard when not in use. Quicker than electric too. I dont like it but keep quiet to keep the peace

Terribly uncivilised but it works a treat while you gather funds for that genny ;)

Bright Spark 1-Piece 34.5 x 28 x 9 cm Powder Coated Steel Caravan and Camping Cooker: Amazon.co.uk: Kitchen & Home

get the gas cannisters from home bargains. They last a lot longer than camping gaz at a fraction of the price
Roy I don’t use gas on board.

Whereas not only do we do proper barbies we do pizza too

as for gas onboard - it's disconnected and stowed away. No kiddie fingers to play with it. I have enough problems with them leaving 20 of my 120 lights on at any one time

:) I'm used to gas on boats having had it on every yacht I've owned, borrowed, charted, crewed, blagged or whatever, so far. So I'm OK with doing gas safely, but I'd not choose to have it. I've also got one of these little stoves so that's OK for a quick cuppa.
