I have a 6L Pela with a very small bore extension tube. I would like to replace this with something more suitable for getting down the fuel filler to the bottom of the tank - anyone found something suitable?

I just used a length of tube as a siphon. A pump was not necessary.

I used some bits of hose that were lying about, some copper pipe and an 8mm 1/4 turn valve. It's easier if you can pump the vacuum in advance and then probe the tank.

I need to do this too but I thought I'd add that I bought a long reach bottle brush (1.5m) for cleaning aquariums for stirring up all the crud before pumping it out.
I have a Pela pump which I was going to suck out the tank water/sediment trap but have a fuel pump and hose for sucking the rest out into cans. I definitely have some sludge in there!

I use a piece of rigid plastic pipe attached to a length of flexible pipe with a squeezy rubber priming bulb in the middle. It's easy to suck out any crud in a fairly controlled manner. I put the end of the pipe in an empty 2 litre water bottle, let it settle and see what's in the bottom.

I've got one of these and it worked really well on my tank:

and Lidl have them on special offer at the moment!
