I think my port alternator has given up the ghost but need to check tonight.

I know it's not the standard 60A..i think it's around 100A. But I can't find one for sale anywhere..any ideas please folks?

Thanks

They only seem to sell the standard one.

I need a bigger one as this charges two large batterers that power all my domestic gear

Don't have time to get it repaired i'm afraid.

I'm wondering if a standard 60A alternator would be enough to power everything I have?

What do we think?

I had KAD300's with the standard alternators (60A I think, as you mention?). I have 3 batteries (forget Ah, but they're golf cart batteries, serious things... each weighs 48Kg!) and the two alternators seem to do the job grand.

Of course, it's all relative and depends on how long you'll be running your engines for.

So I got the old one off last night and found part numbers etc. It's a 90A off of a bukh..£145 for a new one..much better then £270 for a VP 60A.

Also last night I confirmed that it is the alternator that is bust. The battery voltage is the same with the engine off or at 2000rpm...also the rev gauge is now not working..showing hours though..wich I know means the alternator is duff as it gets the readings from it.

I don't mind it when things break and the cause is easily found and the fix is not too expensive.,
