Ad41 and DP-D1 delay in forward gear

Check the cable adjustment and oil levels in the drive first.
But yes, if all else is correct, then worn clutch cones is likely.

On mine it was clutch cones, the delay slowly got longer till they did not engage at all....just lasted the season so no boat time lost!

Would be carefull expecting it to last the season. From experience they do go downhill quite fast.
Cost whise I would think about 500-600 GBP per drive. (from memory)

Quote i received-
best case - strip and relap in cone if it is still good aprox £225.00 including parts + vat.
worst case - strip and replace cone, selector , spacer and orings aprox £645.00 including parts +vat.

This was for me removing the drive top box and refitting it and there was the new gear oil also.

I had a delay in my starboard leg 290dp, shaft seal had worn and I had water in the gearbox oil, replaced the seals, pressure tested, filled and flushed the oil, topped up again and all is good again
