AD31DP gear selection problems

Hello. I am booked to be craned back into the water on Thursday 30th Julyafter drives overhaul, bellows etc. I have adjusted the gear selector cable as usual to select forward and reverse. It is not possible to engage either gear successfully. pushing the stick forward or back as the engine revs up will sometimes engage with a thump. Any ideas? Can I find a Volvo engineer able to come to Thruxton and fix the prob?

Could you tow it to a dealer

When you say overhaul, have you had it apart internally ?

Where are you launching the boat ?
 
If the bellows were changed by splitting the drive did all the shims go back in correctly, if it was working before it can only have been reassembled incorrectly if its just had a service.

No I did not split the drives. The drives came off as usual to change the bellows. I did notice a hesitation in slipping into gear especially from stb. drive before lifting last year. I put it down to cable adjustment.

Hello Paul. No I have not taken the drives apart, just taken them off to replace the bellows and touch up paint and re-antifoul. Launching in Southampton, on the dry at Thruxton near Andover at present. Launch day postponed. There was hesitation getting into gear before lifting last year.

Sounds like the cone clutch .

You have not said what drive it is .
