I’ve posted a wanted on the site for an Actisense NGX-1 and had a positive response but it is the -ISO model. Currently my Raymarine es97 plotter has an nmea0813 cable to enable the “heading” from my older Simrad autopilot which displays ok to the network and es97. However I’m purchasing an Axiom +9 to replace es97. So will the Actisense ISO model do what I want as I don’t want to waste the sellers time. TIA

The ISO model has bare wires, rather than a N2K connector. You can fit a connector or splice one end of a N2K cable to it. You cannot connect directly to the Axiom, you will need a N2K network.

I thought you might answer 😀 so thanks. Guess I’m going to need the cable STNG-A06045 as well to connect it into my StNG network .

Ah, no, if you have a STNG network, cut a spur cable in half and splice it to the Actisense. STNG cable colours are the same a N2K.

Being the potential seller I can probably help.

Note you've got NGX in the title which is the newer version of the same product.

I think the ISO version isn't a really a version of the original NGW-1 as such, more it replaced it. PaulRainbow isn't right about the cabling though, one end is NMEA2k male, the other is tinned individual cables for NMEA0183 - Which NGW-1 do I need?.

Stng and NMEA2k are the same protocol with different physical connectors so you can buy a connector to go from NMEA2k female to Stng, or cut the cable and splice to an Stng connector as PaulRainbow says. I've done this for most of my devices as my network backbone is Stng, though not for the ones with integrated connectors like this.

There are also a variety of other NMEA2k to NMEA0183 connectors out there, and Raymarine has a five way connector that does it straight to the network too.

ha - I was just about to query that with Paul as I found this on Actisenses website !

"Connecting to a SeaTalkNG Network Black Red NET COM NET SUP Raymarine’s SeaTalkNG network uses exactly the same data as a standard NMEA 2000 network. The only difference is the physical network connections. To connect any standard NMEA 2000 device (like the NGW-1) to an STNG network, simply use an NMEA 2000 to STNG adapter cable (product code: STNG-A06045) between the device and the STNG network"

So if I buy your Actisense I'll will need the A06045 cable then.......not a problem cos I'm not splicing !

Yes, my bad, it's the other end with bare wires, as you say.
