Acoustic Music Session - West Mersea

I have finally put into effect the dream of the last 30 years and moved back to the marshes. Just renting a room down near Dabchicks for the moment, whilst houseboat funding is sorted out, and need something to keep me off the streets at night, so have started a pub session.

It runs from 9-11pm every Thursday at the Coast Inn, 108 Coast Road, West Mersea, CO5 8NA. Directions are to drive through the town on the main road, and keep on until you pass the Victory, the Coast Inn is the next pub on the left, right on the high water mark.

It is a tune and song session, and includes music from every and any acoustic tradition. We ran the first one last night, and the excellent Ragged String Band turned up and blew everyone away. We were a bit light on musicians, but next week promises to have a bigger turnout.

All the best

Greg

Update

The Coast Inn Thursday session has gone from strength to strength since it kicked off last October, and now has its own website. We've even had our first player arrive by boat, Graham Jenkins, although we did strap him into his lifejacket before he paddled off to get back aboard. Anyone down in Mersea on a Thursday night is most welcome at the Coast Inn, 8 - 11.30pm.

Thanks, glad it's going well, would love to get along at some point. Would you have room for a double bass player? Nearest conceivable opportunity is likely to be during August when we hope to be on holiday in the area again - presumably it will still be going through the holiday period?

Double bass more than welcome! We have had a couple in over the last few months, but if you want to save some space in the car, I can bring my electric bass in for you.

Sailorman, even kazoos are welcome! Looking forward to meeting you.

Saw the auld vessel being launched last Thursday. Have just moved offices to the top floor of the office block at the front of the 110 Coast Road business ghetto, so some pretty stunning views, webcam to follow when my personal recession ends (no sign, yet). Herewith the views this morning.

And it's right next door to the Coast Inn. Dangerously convenient!

Ah, that's Kioni with her new owner, George. I knew he was getting Peter Clarkes hauling her out to do some early season maintenance. She's on a mooring in Salcott right near Tillergirl now.

Although I've played electrics for over 30 years double bass is best - especially when accompanied on spoons by Sailorman
