Heard that there is a device on the market which delivers a series of knocks to the hull in certain time intervals. Dunno whether this is BS but it is supposed to discourage the critters from attaching. Couldn't find anything on the web however. Did anyone come across this??

Barnicle Off is another, works just at the top end of human hearing as there is a sleep function if it annoys anybody, made a single unit and tries, Im in a high Barnicle area and for about a 4 ft radius it was clear at the end of five months running, the pro unit cost in 1998 around £400 each speaker was £150 and for a bildge keeler they recomended 6 units, way out of my pocket. the only place thet said that might get fouling was on the keel and rudder. would be superb on a deep V MoBo in grp but useless on wood.

This all started when someone set up his Hi Fi on an american warship. Come drydocking time, an area of hull was found to be clear of fouling - within range of the Hi Fi set.

Barnacles obviously dont like noisy neighbours either..... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
