I have never heard of them before has anyone got any info or comments about these boats ? Are they semi displacement and any comment on sea keeping and quality of build ?

thanks
Tim

Many models, several planing. Not experienced with them but viewed a 31 Elite that was nice build quality, rather flat hull (planing). As you'd imagine comfort in a chop suffered some slamming at speed.

Viewed an Exellent 38 (on the hard) and was genuinely impressed. Out of my budget so didn't sea trial it though.

I owned an ACM Elite 31 for 3 years and used the boat all year round on the Clyde and West Coast of Scotland. The yanmar engine was very reliable and pushed the boat to 24knts when clean and light, but would cruise all day at 8knts.
As already mentioned a very flat hull, but with a nice flare on the bow which kept any spray off the windscreen, i don't remember ever taking a lump of green over the bow.
The finish was very yachty as you would expect from a boat built by Dufour, lots of well finished woodwork with minimal plastic throughout. Good sized, swim platform, mine had snap davits for a tender, good sized cockpit and sliding doors to the saloon.
At the time I bought it i was looking at Skilso 975 and various nimbus boats around the 30ft mark, i found the Acm had all the same internal features in fact all, three builders used the same window manufacturers, sunroofs were from the same supplier, engines were all, yanmar etc, but the hull design on the ACM lacked the short keel found on the Skilso and Nimbus. Close quarter manoeuvring is a bit tricky due to the single prop but once you get used to working the prop wash and bow thruster, I could pretty much put the boat anywhere.
All things considered I would recommend the ACM, my choice was based on budget and aesthetics, i liked the price, liked how it looked with the blue hull and cream wheelhouse, and the accommodation ticked all the boxes.
The blue hull was prone to fading particularly on the transom but with pigmented polish and a good UV top coat it looked great.

Hello all, we have just become owners of an ACM Dufour Heritage 26, the hull and transom are very faded, Macheseo mentioned a pigmented polish and a good UV top coat 9 years ago...any pointers as to products that would suit would be hugely appreciated! Great to join the Forum. All Best, Guy

You'll be wasting your time trying a pigmented polish on a chalky blue hull. It'll need cutting back or if too far gone painting or wrapping.

Thanks Disco Volante, we're planning on cutting back first, or no point polishing really. I was just hoping for advice on the best pigmented polish to achieve best result and longest lasting finish.
I don't think it is too far gone yet, but we'll see after this try. Then it will be a choice between paint or wrap. That's for another thread...
