In the depths of the cockpit locker of my new(ly purchased) boat, I have discovered an Achilles dinghy. From looking at various web-sites, I think it may be the LT-2. Everything is there except the outboard mounting pad. However, i can't find a dealer in the UK.
marineonline have it in their brochure but they advise me that they have never sold one and that the original supplier was Sowester.
I have tried e-mailing the manufacturers in the States but they haven't replied. Can anyone help?

shouldn't be too expensive to have one made up in stainless tube with an offcut of 25mm ply or solid timber for a transom. by the time you've paid shipping costs for an inferior product you'll have spent not much less.

I once had an Achilles dinghy - it lasted about 1 1/2 seasons before porosis took place and the thing had to be thrown away and replaced by an Avon.

I'd suggest not going to any great trouble or expense to replace the outboard bracket.

Good luck

Is this a mounting made of 2 pieces of thick (about3/4 inch) ply that is fixed to the boat with webbing straps? Thats how it was done on small Achilles dinghies back in the late 70s and as recently as the early 90s.

If so I have one (virtually unused) but I'm in Kent and its hardly worth shipping to Scotland. Although I could probably get it as far as York about Easter time. Alternatively I could measure it up so you could make one.

PM me if you are interested
