Acetone everywhere and not a drop to drink

[ QUOTE ]
Thanks Arthur, now I don't know who to believe.

You, a glassfibre expert and 16,000 webpages, or Haydn.

Believe yourself. You've tried it. Did it work? Did it remove the antifoul? Did it damage the gelcoat? Did the gelcoat even lose its gloss?

I've removed the antifoul from the whole bottoms of several polished gelcoat hulls with acetone with no problems. QED

This is the keel which was cleaned of AF (international Interspeed Ultra) and primer (Primocon) in around forty five minutes using acetone. And after one more clean with fresh acetone, it will be ready to take the KeelGuard this weekend. You can see the repaired area just after the turn of the keel.

Yes, I know the boat is only supported by the six stands, but I took away the blocks so that I could do the job.

Boat has been on stands for two weeks now, and despite gales last weekend, it hasn't budged a millimetre and, incidentally, it can sit on the four back stands by themselves - which how I got the trailer out.

Acetone won't dissolve antifoul

It does dissolve International Interspeed Ultra and Primocon and it does it very quickly an ddoes not damage gel coat.

Phew! I think we are getting there!
