Hi,

Think I know the answer to this but would like confirmation - if indeed I am right.

I've just tried to perform my periodic re-pressurisation of the accumulator, but whilst it seems to hold pressure, when I test by pressing the centre of the valve water comes out. I presume the bladder is blown and so the whole unit needs replacing? It's a Jabsco cylindrical unit.

Thanks all.

Modern accumulators have a bladder so if yours has a schraeder valve and water is coming out then yes its knackered. Older types simply provide an air cushion directly onto the water, but they are pretty useless.

This one on EBAY would likely be OK if you can attach to the threaded fittings 171369359289

Thanks for the responses : it's a 30753 which does have a bladder and can be mounted in any orientation (according to the box). Water is indeed coming out of the schraeder valve so as I suspected - and you have kindly confirmed - it's only lasted a couple of years.

Will look at the ebay listing.

Cheers.

When you fit it make sure it is correctly adjusted to just below the pump cut in pressure (actual, not advertised) It is a fairly simple procedure but a helper at the tap end helps a lot. With the pump off and taps open set the pressure to about 5 psi, then close the taps and turn on the pump, when the pump cuts out turn on the tap just a dribble, immediately the pump cuts in turn off the pump and taps. Check the pressure in the accumulator which will be the cut in pressure. Pump off and taps on, the accumulator pressure will drop to the 5 psi you set in stage 1, now pump up the accumulator to just below the pressure you measured as the cut in pressure. It takes very little time and makes sure you get the best from the accumulator.

I don't know about this particular accumulator, but many have replaceable bladders which is a lot cheaper than doing the whole thing.
