Would any kind soul who is based at Chatham be able to recommend a hotel / B&B near the marina? Other than the Ship & Trades which is fully booked for the night I need a room.
TIA,

AJ

Recommend Rochester if possible..Chatham a bit sterile and utilitarian./forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Adjacent to the Bull Hotel is Kings Head Hotel 01634 831103.Area has loads of atmosphere. Both located in old high street loads of pubs restuarants etc and just round corner from Castle n cathedral and old guildhall with Baggins S/H bookshop across road..
About 15 mins from Marina and a fiver in one of the local cabs.

I went to Rochester Cruising Club once - never again. First thing that hit me was the smell, second thing was the 2kw electric power - put on the kettle and blow the whole pontoon.

Smell what smell. Most people seeing a dead dog floating near their boat regard it as a good luck sign.

For that sort of money, you could at least provide him with his own personal cardboard box, and a nice dry doorway!

Err, let me know if Depsol enters the forum, I'll go and hide

My Cuddy is £24.99 plus free use of toaster /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Re: How about the NAFFI?

Perhaps the others can help me out here but what about the old NAFFI that is now a respectable hotel along the Brompton Road? Can't remember the blessed name! It's a fairly short walk from the dockyard and Chatham Marina.

Otherwise, I agree with the advice to look to Rochester for accommodation - tr7v8's list is good.

If you get really stuck, try having a word with the Medway Visitor Information Centre - 95 High Street, Rochester, Kent, ME1 1LX Telephone 01634 843666, fax 01634 847891, email visitorcentre@medway.gov.uk

Enjoy your stay!

Afterthought: Is it the Prince Charles?

Thanks all.

Its one night for 12th July. RIB cruise to Chatham from Docklands & have left it too late to get into the Ship & Trades where I usually stay (& where we'll be eating/drinking). SWMBO would object to kipping in a bivvy bag on deck but we'll will consider JW's suggestion about the marina office (presumably I can tell them that the boss said it was ok? /forums/images/icons/wink.gif) Actually a couple of Belgium chaps came over for same cruise a few years ago and ended up sleeping in the shower block. H1 Cuddy Cabin a thought but wouldnt trouble him to empty out all his kit. Local hotel and cab I guess is favourite so will try some of the suggestions made.

Cheers,
AJ

Re: How about the NAFFI?

Yes, its the King Charles, http://www.kingcharleshotel.co.uk/hotel.htm
Does it still have the nightclub on the corner ?

Re: How about the NAAFI?

Ah! King Charles, I was close. Yes, I think the nightclub is still round the back, although I've not been in that part since it was used by a dog training club many years ago!

PS: Apols for mis-spelling NAAFI earlier...
