We took my Shetland off the water today at Wells Harbour my mate said he would tow her back to Stamford for me .We got her off the water very smoothly indeed then proceeded to Stamford. We got as far as Wisbech ok and negoiated the Guyhurn rounderbout,i noticed 20yards afterwards (me followinging behind )that one of the trailer wheels looked decidedly at an angle(4wheeled trailer),my son and i were just about to flash Pete that we had a problem when the wheel buckled and jamed up into the mudguard;this caused the trailer to pull the tow car down until it bottomed out ,then worst of all the ballhitch detached itself from the car ...sparks everyware the trailer nuges(luckily on his tow hitch) my mates car he moves to the center of the road...THE BOAT AND TRAILER OVERTAKES HIM ON THE INSIDE!!!!,it then proceeds down the slight hill gathering momentum as it goes scraping along the kurb ,this with oncoming traffic coming the other way..it then mounts the kurb and ....yes youve,e guessed hits a traffic sigh and then even worse a bloody great steet light post....my son took a cleat with a portion of left hand boat home with him as a memento....moral....if you dont know the condition of your trailer bearings change them anyway...the hub in question was tight at start of journey....60miles and was packed with fresh grease.Thank god the boat hit highway furniture and not another car or personsons....the insurance rangle starts Monday
