Dual residency has a catch. Although allowed, those who have taken out the 5 year in Portugal have to be able to prove they have been resident there for the 5 years, before being granted permanent status, no doubt Spain is the same and I hear Spain are stricter when becoming resident. Dual citizenship OK with Portugal and UK, my wife has that status.
By the way, those heading back and worried about Covid should think twice. As we found out yesterday, social distancing ends at the gate queue and Stansted staff didn't bother about lots of people taking masks off once inside departure lounge and no requirement for gloves there or on plane. On plane, Ryanair cabin crew did ensure masks worn, repeatedly checking.
