Sorry, there is nothing wrong with a bankers draft given a little checking, so maybe we enjoy the experience of
1.clearing bankers
2.master forgers
3.people talking crud
CHAPS might be easiest, but there is no reason to refuse a bankers draft if you use a little nouse. You could always just talk to your bank...

I have personal experience of a bankers draft being intercepted in the post and paid into an account within three days....definitely VERY second best to a chaps payment in my experience.

Batches of Bank Cheques (drafts) have been stolen and misused at various times. Nobody is claiming to be a Master Forger, but a CHAPS transfer is quicker, and irrevocable (witness the Tunisian(?) chap who succesfully sued HSBC for £944k a while back, when they wired his money back to the sender because they thought the CHAPS transfer was suspicious)...
