Absolute 50 FLY. (Video)

I see you still love Abolsute Allistair.

He says a lot of things but what I like is how low that boat rides in the water even at slower speeds. That is a good result considering it is powered by IPS and most I have seen with this propulsion ride quite high.
I also like the video of the new Prestige 500S. That is another great stuff.
 
Nice styling, but a park bench for a helm seat ... anyone would think it was Italian ...

I don't like the flybridge supports though, nicer to have it cantilevered IMO. Agree with PY that it trims nicely

If the info quoted is correct he is asking for help in finding fuel immediately as he has 800l fuel capacity and three engines burning it so has an endurance of about 1 hour!

The website has different numbers for capacity but quotes gallons without stating if they are imperial or US.

Fuel capacity is 1700 liters two engine versions or 1900 l for three engines. The Italian version of the website says this.

As you know, my usual source for Absolute info is no more, so please post any news when you get it.

I much prefer the Sportscruisers too, my wife wants one with Patio doors, and we were on a 52 a couple of years ago, and she loved it, in reality my goals are set for a 40. :D

He is merely stating what all Absolute owners know. "Ita go gooda in it". Apart from the teak on mines swim platform, don't ask.:o & the fishing-net that wrecked the starboard out drive, bloody fishermen, & the stupid eel that swam up me generator intake, bloody fish.:D

In a nutshell, that she's great.
Which is hardly surprising, considering that these reviews/videos are funded by the builder's mktg dept (not just Abs, mind).

There's a couple of things worth mentioning, though.

The first is good for a smile: when he stands up at 0:36 and looks astern, he says that it's possible to see the boat stern, which is convenient for stern to mooring. Whoa!

The second is even better. Good for rolling on the floor laughing, and biting the carpet unable to stop...
That's when he explains the reason for the choice of triple engines.
I don't want to give it away immediately, though, 'cause it's worth a quick poll. :D
Of course, those who understand this weird language are not supposed to cheat!
So, among thefollowing, which do you think is a good reason for fitting 3 IPS 600 on a 50' flybridge?
1) reduce overall cost (engines+transmission+installation) for the yard;
2) save onboard space;
3) reduce weight;
4) redundancy;
5) improve boat stability while cruising;
6) improve boat stability at anchor;
7) attract boaters affected by the "keeping up with the Joneses" virus.
 
I'll go with #7 Mapis because 1-6 are rotflmho items :-)

Regarding the boat's trim, it was indeed nice, but in all those starboard side running shots please check the horizon. The camera was tilted to make the boat look flatter.

True, but that was rather due to poor equipment/experience of the camera guy, than a smart way of improving the appearance of the hull ride.
The tilt is more or less constant throughout the video: just look at the frame below at 3:48, where the real AoA is actually even better than it appears...

Overall, I agree with PYB that the ride looks very nice indeed, though this is probably due to a good hull design, rather than IPS.
Btw, in the video they say that they're not using trims throughout the whole rpm range, which is another reason to think that they did a good job with the hull.
For another recently introduced 50' f/b which springs to mind, it would take much more than some tilt on the camera to get a riding attitude anywhere near this one... ;)

Re.the possible reasons above, nope, they didn't dare suggest #7 in the video.
Any other guess? :D
