I just made a new model presentation here for the new ABS 40, but I think they've got a winning boat in there hands here, lol apart IPS which for -40 I can live without it looks better then the 43
LOL I need to find where my piggy bag is, this might be my next boat in a few years time
Fantastic

it is a hard top 39, but it still looks much better

main difference is a the hard and extended bigger b/platform
still the HT will make it last a 5 years or more IMO

I am sure Nautical or his press aide Alistair can tell us more

Forgive me but what exactly is 'stunning' about it? Looks to me like any other sportscruiser with a forward master and 2 singles under the helm and a high gloss interior just like a dozen other 40 footer sportscruisers in this market. Actually the cockpit looks less than stunning. The seating area is absolutely (sic) tiny and the fairly useless tender garage/sunpad dominates the whole area. I guess also that this means you can't get access to the engines either
Sorry have I missed something about this boat? Maybe it's the price that is stunning?

I agree the twin heads is a big plus, makes it an ideal boat for a couple without kids who want to invite friends along, also a plus for charter. I'm not quite sure why you need such a big bathing platform when you have a tender garage, i'd sooner have more seating and store the tender on the platform, or at least move the garage further aft. They've done a good job on the styling, but it's always going to be hard to make a 40' conventionally styled sport cruiser look sleek with a hardtop (although Princess seem to manage it), so I prefer the Sealine approach of using a new styling direction that suits hardtops much better IMO.

Still, there are plenty who don't like the Sealine look, so I agree it could be a winner.

Poweryacht,

Thanks for the update . I have to agree that along with the Princess V45 that is the best Hard Top around. The styling of the absolute is to my liking and the 39 was a great boat. As you point out the good looking HT and the extended platform improve it for both it's core Med market and UK market. I think the absolute 39 and 41 were one of the very few 40ft sportscruisers where having a Tender garage seem like a good idea! I just think the cockpit layout works well, even in the UK!

It will really give the new Princess 42HT a run for it's money if even with the euro rate, it is a comparative price! Nautical, any idea how much?

Cheers and thanks

I personally like the seating area with the sunpad

my previous Gobbi 27 Sport at 30 feet had a similar arrangement, and I miss it a lot to be honest on the new format of my new boat, which has a conventional spacious c-shaped settee aft
the sunpad gives a certain privacy to it all which I miss a lot
tender garage are all tiny on this size, so the extended platform gives a bonus to stowe it there if you like

Why is there a trend towards hard tops these days, they look great but wont it get a bit hot in the type of weather that boats get used most in. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Having said that next boat may be ABS 43, Targa 44 or Sunseeker 47. Subject to heat testing. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

have driven a few Pershings and driven a few Sunseeker all with HT and must say that the comfort underway is great, you dont feel hot and for 100 nautical miles it is perfect no sun wind in your face
an anchor on some styles it becomes a bit hot same as a flybridge in the saloon but still less
on some models example the Pershing 54 which has 2 big side windows which open it is fresh and cool
to be honest Rudder Duck on that above list I would go for the Fairline 44 Targa GT, now I am not FL worshipper but that is a great boat, the only problem is the 500k EUROS + price

my next target would be the Bruno Abbate Primatist 41 G Aerotop Evolution, with the Abs 40 close to that, definitly a faster tight hull for the BA with usually 20 plus deg aft

if no hard top I think I would buy the Fiart 40 Genius its a perfect boat for my use

Ahh,

That looks cracking! Are the Brunos still as well built as the Tulio's used to be in the 1990's? Also how does it handle? Like the Cranchi it has a central helm which I prefer,

Cheers

Some aspects are very nice, eg massive swim platform. I'd put the tender there and lose the garage as others have said, but afaik many customers dont want that. The oak wood is nice but would look better in matt varnish imho. Overall a nice looking boat imho

The dashboard is crap. Plenty of space potential for 2x E80 and they waste it on a couple of poxy dials or volvo button pads, leaving room just for the tiniest plotter ever seen on a 40foot boat. And for the owner to mod it and do it properly looks a big job.

Also the fordeck sun cushions are plonked on the deck not recessed. I think they will get ripped off if you take green water over the bow (which can easily happen in med in 40footer). They should be recessed so top of cushion is flush with deck, imho

It's quite a model line up though for a builder that started 5 yrs ago. Mostly very nice stuff. You gotta hand it to those Abs boys.

in Italy they say the Brunos are better over all,
Abbates handle all fantastic and the Primatist are no joke deep vee aft with 20 degrees dead rise, fast running hull definitly the case,
finishing is poshier on Abs or more to my liking, although the improved 41.2 is definitly a closer battle here,
still I am not a fussy guy inside and if it is well put togther, which is always the case for the Primatist then it might be the better choice, the G 41 has also a full beam mid ship cabin which is a bonus, but is also a bigger boat to Abs 40

Oh er , got caught out there, didn't know PY had the press pack yet or I'd have had piccies on here first :-)

Price will be £266,450 inc vat but you need to add a few more grand if you want passerelle and genny, the rest is fairly much standard from teak, holding tanks, mood lighting, oak joinery, appliances etc.

Here is a better picture (I think)...........

Take your point JFM, some peeps (spesh UK buyers) want more cockpit space so the garage would normally be an option if we were selling med to UK not UK buyers that want to be in the med. Thing is having the big swim platform and no need to have the dingy on there is a real boon in the med, kids can loll about on it , jump off/dive, scramble back on again even just crash out soaking up the rays, with a dingy on there its a right pain shoving it on and off all the time and if you are moored stern too you cant get it off cus stuck between back of cockpit and the toon wall so have to clamber over it when reversing stern to to pick up the lines. So with the garage you bung it in outta the way, shove all your toys and junk in there and everything is tickety boo still lots of swim platform and the triple size sun bed (which has even more storgae underneath for fenders, wraps and boat hook etc).

The Plotter can be replaced with 80 cm one or for £1200 you can have an upgraded dash (supplied by us ) that takes a 120.

For those that do prefare more cockpit and no tender garage, watch this space :-) there will be a North European / North American spec in June, wonder who gave em that idea /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Tender garages are a complete pita IMHO. I had one so I know. First off they're not usually big enough for a decent tender. Then it's a huge struggle to get the tender in and out. They also restrict angine access and leave you with a useless sunpad on top which nobody uses. Give me a bathing platform mounted tender lifted by the pasarelle any day.

Nick, you are spot on trying to get a 40' with a hard top look right is a hard task but I think we as darn near got it as good as you can for an all glass / grp affair, canvas top is easier cus you can loos about 6" in the height which at this size makes a huge difference to the aesthetics.

The new 43 (below) is prob (to my eyes) one of the best sub 45 footers with a hard top.

Yeesh! don't ask about the performance :-O, with IPS 600's flip me, just about out drags anything bar a race boat, tis one of the very few boats I have driven that at 25 knts and mash the levers to the stops and you can really feel being pushed hard into the seat, anyone standing up ends up a MOB !

Yep, will have a version of the 40 / 43 and 47 with second seating area and dingy goes on the swim platform.

The only critisim I would have of the Atlantis set up is that the swim platform is tiny so no way to strap a dingy on there, will have to be a pump up job stored in a locker. The ABS will retain the large swim platforms which doesn't give you quite the same cockpit space as the Atlantis but a much more usable cockpit level with the much bigger swim platform.

on pictures and proportions I do prefare the 40,
infact lol that article I did today on PY came from my heart, the bathing platdrom is great and may be there is where it can win also more versus the Primatist and the Atlantis 42 HT, and obviously waiting for the new V42 HT

Does it come complete with set of Karabiners and belaying equipment to get from the cockpit to the front of the boat while under way or has it got some sort of matter transfer device ?
