About to buy a Sealine 218

Hello to all,

My wife and I are just about to get back to boating after about a 20 year gap in which time we moved house and spent our money on sensible things like bringing up children, but not any more! We are in the process of buying a Sealine 218 and we can't wait to get back on the Thames, it's been far too long.

I hope to be able to frequent this forum for help and advice in both directions, so if you see a Sealine 218 zig-zagging up the Thames as I regain my boating abilities please give us a wave.

We will be along the Harleyford stretch of River, nearest section to home so we can use her in the evenings if we wish. Which stretch are you on?

Welcome Ian, I bet it's great to be back on the water and in such a good spot on the river. What is your boats name? We are on a Seamaster 813 called Jolie at Temple. We will look out for you and take appropriate avoiding action as necessary!

The boats name is 'Brigadoon'. I would imagine it will be about a week or so before we own her and manage to get out on the river. It still seems a bit unreal at this stage. So many years walking the riverbank along Bourne End and Cookham and now we will be one of the boats on the river instead of looking on green with envy.

A wide berth if you see me may be a good idea...for a day or so at least. I,ll keep my eyes open for you.

Hello Dennis,

It was good to meet you this afternoon while waiting at the lock. I managed to get through without any damage to me or my crew, well daughter and her boyfriend.

Next time we bump into each other fingers crossed we are moored and therefore can share a bottle of grape juice and talk 'boats'.
