The council intends to deal with the overstayers(some who've been here for over a year).
One of the proposals is to reduce the number of days a boat can stay from 5 days to 3.
I get the impression that whoever is dealing with this, isn't the sharpest tool in the box.

We did 3 nights on way up below the bridge and 2 nights on way back by the play park. I did notice on the latter there was a geyser taking photos of individual boats - he took serperate pics of my barge and my tender And all other boats moored there. This gave me the impression something was afoot. I was a little upset by the lack of "wild" moorings above and below Abingdon - I always used to be able to moor near either end of the Swift Ditch but all spaces at both ends now seem to be taken. This is a change which had occurred in the last few years.

We were photo'd when we arrived in late July by council man who said overstayers tended to be nb's. Also felt sad meadow moorings above the lock where we spent many happy evenings in late 80's - early 90's now completely filled up with manky liveaboards.

Agreed, I was hoping to moor there too. Ruined by floating tips with their rubbish spilled on the Thames path. As I passed, one was filling up with a 20ltr jerry can of diesel and spilling it all over the place.
The pub above Iffley has prevented the liveaboards from bagging the moorings outside,
with a collection of (licensed) canoes and an open boat, all chained to the path.
