ABingdon Marina
Hi Rafiki
I was at the marina for 6 years until last year. It was very good, an excellent location, and I never had any problems at all. The access through the estate was fine and it seemed a very decent area to me, so perhaps True Blue's comment is a bit out of date.
The marina has good security - a locked gate and a locked compound for cars while you are away. There are good pontoon moorings with water, garbage disposal and an Elsan dump but that is the limit of the facilities: there are no showers, no pump-out, no club, no fuel and no maintenance capability; but then you get what you pay for. You can easily walk into Abingdon, or it is 20 mins by boat. The manager is a great bloke if a little laid back, with the office manned on what seemed to be a rather random basis. I only left because the fees hiked up every year without a corresponding improvement in facilities. Nevertheless, the mooring fees were quite a bit less than Thames & Kennet.
I would highly recommend Abingdon Marina - best you get on the waiting list. Try in the Spring when some boats have yet to be put back into the water.
