Abingdon Lock Keeper rescues two from river

Imagine what would have happened had there not been a lock keeper

Echo that!

It's not so much a matter of having the lock worked for you, but more for all the other things that they do that everyone would miss....

Richard is one of the most pleasant 'keepers on the River. (Of course they are all great!!)

Excellent thought, when do you think funds will be available to provide keepers at every lock on every stretch of water in UK ?
Will be looking forward to when I can throw my lock key away down here on the Medway.:)

Anything else you desire?
You've just been given a nice new mooring
Some people are never satisfied:)

You can't have any...this is the Thames forum don't you know :p

Be carefull the small print says: "A place to discuss boating issues specific to the Thames and other inland waterways" although it is fairly clear that this excludes the Medway as it
is neither the Thames or an Inland Waterway, too much mud!:p

Have you seen the state of the Thames with reference to mud?

Small but perfectly formed.

Rumour is that the Gods made the Thames first, realised pretty quickly it was never going to work due to stroppy locals always moaning about something or other and then did a proper job on the Medway but with all the problems ironed out.

Well done indeed. He's a smashing bloke. That lock's one of the gems of the Thames and its mostly down to Richard and the friendly old fella who helps out.
