BarryD and DaveS are praps taking Barry's new boat MV2 from essex to chich tomorrow. Hope the weather improves. The wind here nearly ripped the office roof off and mega windchill. I would have liked to help (honest) but I am busy this weekend. Any news?

Re: ooh

I hope you aren't wasting a perfectly good excuse to sit in the pub for two days, having pre-arranged a pass-out from swmbo's?

Re: ooh

Nah (as if) we're being good boys and building reliability credits... Now are you in Milan next weekend and do you have your winter fermals?

Barry D.

Methinks 'For those in peril on the sea' is more appropriate than 'Abide with me'

Re: ooh

no, not anywhere in Italia, signor. I have plenty of warm clothes ( ithink incl fermals somewhere..) and a sleeping bag, and would think that wearing this lot, praps with binliner on the outside should probly be just fine.

I already found an excuse not to show 'em what's what this weekend, since we're in Holland. Only thing is I rashly said, I was available next w\e. Now if they've put the trip off, I'll have to think of something else for next w\e. Oops I've jst remembered it's NEXT weekend I'm in Holland not this one. Phew that was close.

Re: ooh

Matt - you just made 1st Mate (if Capt. S approves) - I'm only good for falling in as I untie the 3 bowline hitch double kleff used by the previous owner to hold all the bumpy bits together. Refusal will lead to howls of laughter...

Re: ooh

I will happily assume special responsibility for retrieving esteemed owner from murky depths, and eagerly await promotion from assistant fender-loser from Cap'n S. Or praps just help with the fiddly knots?

Re: Right Then....

All crew will be flogged daily until morale improves. Or someone buys the 'alleged' skipper a drink.

Methinks Matt will find a whole new world of boating out in the Thames Estuary. Bathing platforms are only used to haul in dead dogs and suchlike. We have strange swirly things called tides, and it also rains a lot.

There is sand in nice changeable banks that are frankly no good for sandcastles at all. And it rains ........ a lot.

What a whole new experience out on a boat worth about as much as a decent cutlery set. And wearing proper waterproof clothing type stuff instead of scary Speedo's, flipflops and a Surf Shack tshirt.

Weather currently looks good for Thurs/Friday but things may well change before then. Fri/Sat is ok with me too.

Can't wait.

Re: aye aye

will report with portable vhfx 2, gps x 2, hardly-used oversized uk-style saily anorak, promising bashed-up Tilley hat, bracey overtrousis, yottie gloves, bottle of port, sleeping bag, provincial accent and North-sea style grimace plus full complement of drinking tokens. CV = born WYorks, chips on shoulder bag of scratchings on other for balance, got on bike 80's darn sarf and kept pedalling. Certain that N Sea much warmer nr posh Thames due to close proximity of Equator and sincere belief that rich southerners habitually let hot water taps run. Politics: slightly lager of centre- William the Conqueror the original southern wooftah tho nice wine tendencies, Boycott a bitter/forgotten embarrassment, childrenx 2 born London hospital and growing fast so fully understand that all cockney/eastender types = somehow obvious streetsmart inheritors/guardians of all known UK business/other acumen. Religion: praps sundays should be kept for something even more special than religion?
