I keep my boat at Milford Haven marina which is a bit cheaper than neyland and closer to the open sea. The facilities are much better than what you say are at aberystwyth. Also the staff are very helpfull and friendly. no problem paying by credit card and 4 equal payment with no penalty. So I would change in a heart beat. You will soon make new friends here.
Thanks - there is lots of marine bits there as well, a short drive to Cosalts when the lifraft need servicing as well, slightly put off by the size of the lock - although there is a pontoon to moor against during the time the level is changing.
If memory serves me correctly, you can deal directly with Meirion. You never know its worth a try, he'd rather have have you there 'slightly cheaper' than gone.
Hmm dont think so, hour and a half to pwllheli 2 hours plus to aber, pile mooring £1400 last year, aber £3500 for the marina.
Hows italy? spoke to sarahs mum last week,
Stu
It has to be said however that apart from Pwllheli it is the only other one in Cardigan Bay, although going round corners shouldn't put one off /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif
My concern is for what it offers and its access it appears to be rather more than rather expensive and the rise is rather more than a bit. Yes and the £10.50 for a day visit as the price list says if it is per metre then it is expensive /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif, which is why I suggest it is a typo, apparently not the only one - but ones that may IMHO reflect the overall management of the organisation /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
funny how people seem to state that Aber is not the most expensive of the marinas,i will be going from there as my boat costs £285 36per mtr for a annual fee @Aber & have minimum security/minimum toilet & shower facilities, ( these are the same as there building site rules not as a over priced leisure facility, also the staff are not able to see sails & dodgers flapping in the wind,or partly worn mooring ropes,i can get a mooring in the Haven with all mod cons, staff who care for your boat & are very caring, for £177 per mtr annually,
We are also abandoning Aber marina due the the poor service and the price hike! So far I know of at least 5 or 6 boats who are shipping out of Aber due to the price hike.
For the same money we are off to Holyhead where there is 24hr access, a safe haven if it blows up and far far far superior facilities. Yes, we will miss the Town of Aber, however we go to the boat to sail, not walk round the town.
The Marina owners dont seem interested in listening to their berth holders so we are voting with our feet. Others should do the same!!
Don't forget that Lawrenny Yacht Station is also on Milford Haven at even lower prices than the marinas. If you can live with a swinging mooring and all the facilities then this may be the place for you. Access is at all state of tide and it is about an hour and a half from the entrance (dependant on how you use the tide!). Spaces are running out however.
