I see from local press that Ceredigeon council are looking for partners to run the harbour. Is this a job for#praxinoscope?

I'd love to but unfortunately the council seem to think converting the harbour to a marina would be a sensible idea.
Why not?
1. Capital investment to create a marina in such a small harbour would mean very long term before investment was recovered.
2. Many existing harbour users would be priced out of using Aberaeron including me.
3. One of the aesthetic attractions of Aberaeron harbour is its 'Georgian' construction and aspect, a marina would look out of place.
4. If the river goes into flood as it did just a couple of years ago when we lost 9 boats in one day, there would be very extensive and potentially even greater damage to a marina and moored craft.
5. A marina with lock gates , and the concept of pedestrian crossing across the harbour entrance, this would inevitably reduce the access for boats.
6. There would be no gain as far as far as tidal access to Aberaeron which is approximately an average of 2.5 hours either side of high water,
7. The harbour is surrounded by domestic and commercial properties with very little area for marina equipment, offices etc. The current car park could of course be used but then harbour users would have nowhere to park. The Yacht club which is a freehold property owned by the club could of course be acquired by a potential marina operator, but alternative premises would need to be provided, none of which would be in such an excellent site.
Security fencing would have to be erected to provide the privacy for marina users, instantly this would degrade the visual amenity of Aberaeron whic is one of its primary visitor attractions.
8. The safe construction of a marina is suspect until the North harbour breakwater has been extended by about 200 metre and turned Southerly to protect the harbour from tidal surges and the risk of flooding and severe rollers entering the harbour resulting from strong North Westerlies.
I probably have a few more reasons for objection but the above can be taken as a starting point.
