I was playing around with another WWW site which contained a link to this tug, (which didn't work - so searched for another).

Apparently has rescued 195 ships. She was, for 20 years, Europe's most powerful tug.

Pretty impressive heavy weather video here:

I am sure it was powerful enough but on locating a vessel in trouble how on earth would they get a line on board in conditions like this ?

Corky ! That's more than a tug....more like a Rottweiler... :D

I like the way she digs her bow into the next wave, Fo'csle completely submerged then surfaces again..like a U Boat...:D

Does anybody know where this photograph was taken ?

Looks like the Med ?

Abeille Flandres has now gone to the mediterranean, she has been replaced by Abeille Bourbon for Atlantic service

Abeille Flandre is 64m long with 12800 HP
Abeille Bourbon is 80m long with 21000HP

looks like Chennel du Four its certainly shallow / shelving bottom causing waves like that

I think the film is taken on the Poite De Bretagne NW extremity of France between Pointe De Penmarc'h and Pointe Du Raz (Le Raz De Sein) and the gateway to south Brittany proper. Towards the end you can see what looks like La Vielle light on the corner of the Raz. Both spots are notorious for the seas!

See here though http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=GB&hl=en-GB&v=m2LeNBY_5gk&feature=related for the REAL storm!

This tug was anchored up off Camaret last August both on our way south and when going home later, it seems to be a convenient waiting place for them and I'm pretty sure it was there the previous year too. Certainly we have seen it in and around this corner several times.
