Being a relatively new reader to the forum, can anyone please tell me what SWMBO means? Are there any other abbreviations that I should learn about?

Too many to list,
but a few that that crop up

WOT = boaty, Wide Open Throttle

IMHO = In My Humble Opinion

In message lines
NM or n.m. or similar. Means No Message. The message is in the subject line, There is no message within the post, so no need to open it

NB or n.b. or similar. Means Non Boaty. The post contains material that is not boating related. Some people only want to read boating material, so this save them opening posts they are not interested in

WOT

And there was me thinking it must mean wind over tide! Still it's not really a boaty site is it?

Re: WOT

Apparently an Ethiopian term originally. <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.sas.upenn.edu/African_Studies/Miscellany/eth_chk.html>http://www.sas.upenn.edu/African_Studies/Miscellany/eth_chk.html</A>

after very hot spicy stew, you run at full steam for the lav, hence wide open throttle

Re: WOT

Interesting recipe. It would seem that Ethiopian chickens are slightly different to ours, as it says: "1 whole chicken, skinned and cut into serving pieces (or 6 legs and 6 thighs)"

Assuming it can co-ordinate all those legs, it must be able to get up to a fair speed...
