[RANT ON] Don't you just love boats? Launched 9th May, couple of weekends aboard, and the bog is u/s as far as pump in is concerned... At a silly hour, buoyed by a glass of Glenlivet last Saturday evening I set about identifying the source of the issue. I'd already sorted the bog itself, and renewed the Jabsco flappy valve bits at the top, so off came the inlet pipe to see where that was blocked, it wasn't... So tested the Blake's seacock, and.... no hose impersonation when I turned it on just a very slow dribble. So she has to come out again for a 5 min job clearing the inlet seacock.... [RANT OFF]

Now I've got that off my chest, I'll get me coat....

Gets my vote. You could possibly connect a bit of hose on to the inlet seacock and be above the waterline and then poke down it with a straightened coathanger (I assume you have a metal coathanger in your tool box )

Only problem is the "w" word is getting in the way... Did think about it

Not with a blakes(side exit for pipe) under a plinth and only 2" vertical clearance...

I did that once with a cable tie. Went through 90 degrees and cleared a blockage.

If anyone is interested in a cable tie for such a job I have loads unused ones about 1/2 wide and a foot or so long from a project they were not needed for.

That's a thought, could list them on the for sale section as bog clearers.

Are you sure it's a blocked inlet and not just a mis-assembly of the pump valves? What would block the inlet that you could get off with a broom from a dinghy?

A strainer plate on a heads outlet.

I would have thought frequent blockages would be a certainty.

It's the inlet that's blocked, not the outlet - hence the strainer on the ouside to stop weed blocking it.

Sorry, didn't read the OP carefullly enough.

Nevertheless, strainers can get blocked more easily by barnacles etc, and are a b***er to clear.

I wish, I had the inlet off the seacock, and it only dribbles in when the seacock was open....:-(

Can you not hook it up to a hose ?

If you don't have access to a pontoon hose, hook it up to a bilge pump, shower outlet pump, deck wash etc.

Unfortunatley the yard can't do the lift, so I'll be scrubbing posting at the weekend to sort... It isn't a show stopper as a bucket of sea water works as a good flush....
